Lifestyle in Guide to Shoreditch

Going out in Shoreditch

Despite being one of the more wealthy areas in East London, Shoreditch has maintained its more gritty edge which is what attracts so many people here. It is packed with independent restaurants and of course has Brick Lane which is a big draw for locals and tourists alike. It also has some of the best cocktails bars in the whole of London.

We recommend:

  • Princess of Shoreditch, Old Street - Cosy pub serving high quality food
  • Happiness Forgets, Old Street - Basement cocktail bar
  • Dishoom, Brick Lane - Indian
  • Richmix, 35-47 Bethnal Green Road - Shoreditch's cultural hotspot

Shopping in Shoreditch

Shoreditch is packed with quirky independent stores as well as some of the bigger fashion brands, making it a real destination for fashion conscious shoppers. There is a great mix between the more traditional London market showcased at Brick Lane and the more modern take at Spitalfields.

We recommend:

  • Boxpark, 2-4 Bethnal Green Raod - A shopping centre made from reclaimed shipping containers
  • Present, 140 Shoreditch High Street - Menswear
  • Maison Trois Garcons, 45 Redchurch Street - Eccentric interiors

Outdoors in Shoreditch

Being so central Shoreditch doesn't have a huge amount of green space but if you like cycling you will feel very at home here as there are loads of Boris Bike stations in the area for you to get around and explore on two wheels.

We recommend:

  •  Shoreditch Park - The only local park in the area, it has a playground and a Boris bike station
  • The ALternative London Tour - A walking tour of Spitalfields Market
