Hackney Lettings Manager Jake took the Red Dog Saloon’s Hot Wing Challenge this week, as part of his fundraising efforts for Marie Curie.

Not content with cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats for the charity, Jake challenged himself to Britain’s hottest ‘hot-wing challenge, a challenge so tough, that participants must sign a waiver before taking part!

Participants must eat 6 wings in ten minutes. Sound easy? Each wing is smothered with the infamous Naga Viper chilli – a pepper 250 times hotter than a standard jalapeno.

The wings measure in at 1.3m on the Scoville scale for chilli heat and the wings are so corrosive they can only be handled with gloves.

Rules of the challenge include:

  1. You are not allowed to leave the table.
  2. You are not allowed anything to drink.
  3. Once you have eaten the wings in the allotted time a fresh is a five minute ‘burn-time’ where the same rules apply.

After an unbearable 10 minutes he succeeded, a few tears and a scalded oesophagus but a champion either way.  Well done Jake!
